Lewis Hamilton took the recrd for the most Formula 1 wins in history today, when the record he recently shared with Michachel Schumacher (91) was surpassed with Hamilton winning his 92nd race.

He'll win the title for the 7th time this season (equaling Schumacher) and by almost every metric, he's the greatest ever F1 dirver.

Except one, why can't he be a bit more likeable? 🤔 I still love Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill to this day, I can't see me having any affection for Hamilton when his racing days are behind him. I didn't care for Schumacher either, mostly because he was a product, always in his Ferrari branded livery wherever he was (I remember him on Top Gear when asked what he drove, expecting some exotica. He replied "A Fiat Chroma", part of the Fiat / Ferrari marriage.) But mostly didn't like him becasue he made some dubious moves in his career. Hamilton is clean and fair, but god can he moan like a stroppy 5 year old, he has zero personality and this latest BLM rubbish is a real turn off. I wonder what his white mother thinks.

All the same. He's a Brit and the best ever, I'll stomach it.

Don't really know much about him, he does come across as a bit of a twat but so can most famous peeps. I lost interest in F1 after Senna died and Schumacher and Damon Hill had their first season ding dong, it just became a procession after that, I though nigel mansell was a whingeing twat too but the 80's seemed to be much more watchable even if it was 30 minutes highlights (like snooker). RAC rally was more fun to watch 👍

Hell of an achievement ... but let's face it, there's no mystery here. He has a modicum of talent and he's had decent cars.

If someone can explain how the twunt will (inevitably) win Sports Personality of the Year, him lacking all trace of a personality, I'll be impressed.

Actually, no, I won't. I'll be thinking, that rich parasite really is a twunt.

I know he's marmite and yes until Max is in the Mercedes beside him, then you can never take away that he was a very skilled driver but "it was the car that dunnit for him" doubters. He certianly hasn't helped himself this season by breaking the cardinal rule of don't mix politics and sport. I suspect he lost a lot of his own supporters due to that.

Just as a comparisson, Dougie Lampkin in a motorsport where skill genuinely shines through, has won five consecutive World Indoor (1997–2001) and seven consecutive World Outdoor Championships (1997–2003). He has also won four World Team Championships (Trial des Nations) in years 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2003, six British Adult Championships, two Spanish Adult Championships and the Scott Trial on five occasions.

and yet only got an MBE
