I don't know if their arrogance stops them from seeing the absurdity of that...or whether they do it as a piss take.

It's not as though they couldn't hold it at any one of 1000's of conference or exhibition centres throughout the world.

But then, it's no different than anyone who buys a new EV because they think it's the green thing to do. If you like an EV, fine, crack on - but don't kid yourself that a new EV is better for the environment than buying a car that already exists.

I think it's more that they like to tell each other that they are the ones still in charge just by virtue signalling. When you have the leaders of the 3 biggest polluters not attending cop 30, then anything everyone else does is just keeping the green machine going. The same green machine that swallows billions in tax payer cash and makes very little difference.

Release iodine and god knows what into the clouds
Hack down millions of acres of rain forest ( yes the lungs of the world)
Release the forever chemicals often used in green alternatives ( paper straws etc)
Without changing something
To blame it on c02 when it’s already very low , to the point that if it gets any lower trees and plants will die
Is barking mad , but is good for raising tax and controlling people

Climate change is natural for sure and yes humans can speed it up a bit over thousands of years but the green machine keeps lying in saying we can achieve net zero, we can't and it will stop the climate changing and it won't

According to Harrison Ford, all of that has come true.

At some point, they realised that it is far easier to pretend the planet is heating up (by careful placement of reporting stations and pumping metals into the atmosphere) than it was cooling.
