Just back today from Germany - took the 8pm Ferry from Hull last Monday. Headed to Boppard where we had booked a hotel as a base for the week.

We docked in the Netherlands and did the first half of the 250 mile journey on Motorways stopping for lunch where we spotted this interesting combo...

We then turned off the motorways for the remainder of the route to the hotel where we had booked their 4 best 4th floor rooms overlooking the Rhine - well expensive 😮

They had one of CAT3's earlier/shorter 10 year builds in the hotel foyer...😮

On the Tuesday hotel run it hit 30 degrees by the time we got to Boppard 🥵

Wednesday's ride out it hit 31 degrees - scorchio 🥵🥵🥵

The roads in the two valleys were littered with narrow switch back roads which were a bit narley for our big buses... narlier than the Swiss Alps passes but thankfully not as long...

On Wednesday we went to the Mosel Valley to Cochem... the large holiday boats were still running here as the river is dammed with locks - but the Rhine was at a stand still with the holiday boats and river trips as it was too low and they were all grounded on their moorings.

On Thursday we had a reprieve from the heat and sun with a day of rain so we took the train to Koblenz where the ladies had taken off all their bras in preparation for our arrival.....

We ate at the Altes Brauhaus which one of our party said was the best place in Koblenz and the steak I had was bloody marvelous!

On Friday the sunshine was back but a foggy morning saw the first use of my fog lights 🥳🥳🥳 a more comfy 22 degrees too which was nice!

We went to see a Castle - with many more small switch backs up and down steep valleys to get there...

We then went back to the Hotel which was hosting the first hours of a Town Wine Festival which took place for three days over this weekend...

IMG_0817.webp

And then walked into town for another fab meal here where I had a fab Wild Boar Burger...

IMG_0820.webp

And then to the town square for the Festival... many drunk umpha bands were playing in the streets...

And yesterday was another off motorway run back to the docks with the last miles on the motorway so we caught the ferry in good time..

This mornings sun rise in Hull as the ferry was docking - and a nice short ride back to York to rest 😴
