International Fishing

I have not updated this thread much as the weather here in merry old new england has been nothing but rain every day for the past 2 week and looks to be at least another week of rain approaching. I have heard that the state has not been stocking any of the rivers around here because with the high water, the fish just simply swim down stream to find calmer waters. My lake fishing has been minimal due to the fact it sucks to sit all day in a canoe while it rains non stop all day. Here is to hoping for some drier weather in the near future.

Little update, I have been visiting a lake not too far from my home between down pours of rain. I managed to catch a small bass and a 17" Pickerel. I went back over the last few days and managed to figure out that when the wind is blowing directly at the beaver dam on the stream exiting the lake, there is a large school of Black Crappie feeding there. I have been there 3X now with the wind blowing favorably, and I managed to catch nearly 100 crappie. There were times where every single cast resulted in a fish caught. I am doing my best to put together a trip out on the lake with my canoe over the Memorial day weekend. Since my surgery, I cannot manage loading/un

loading the canoe by myself so I am trying to get someone to go with me. I will hopefully have some great photos in an update soon.

No photos, I was only able to fish for 1 hour. Caught a few more crappies and 1 small bass but I will be out there on Monday(Memorial Day Holiday here) on my canoe. Should do very well.
You have fitted in well with the strange crew who populate this asylum - just a thought that it's a shame you're missing out on all the shit (and believe me there's a lot) we post on the threads which only subscribers can read
You'd be amazed .... 😜

I start my new part time job on Tuesday. When I finnaly get a pay check, I will join in the "Deep End" of the forum. I am always cautious at first around strange people from foreign lands

Why do you suppose I have hesitated to join in any deeper

But seriously, I have been out of work for a full year as of Firday. I promised my wife I would not spend any more money than absolutely necessary until I got back to work. Work begins on Tuesday, so very soon to indulge in the spending of £5

A very respectable size for a common!
Yes there is one at 26lb in the lake and that's my target. I did hook one bigger than the one above but it came off after a couple of minutes of me fighting it, I hope it wasn't the 26 pounder!

I have a picture somewhere of me holding a huge carp when I was younger, nearly 4ft long. We used to go out on the boat at night with a 2000 lumen spotlight and shoot them with a bow and arrow attached to milk jugs(empty of corse) very similar to the movie Jaws just on a much smaller level. My Polish friends loved to eat them and I was a pretty good shot. So much fun watching them run. I will try to locate the photo to post.

Another update, I had intended to place my Canoe on the lake this past Monday to further explore the lake I have been fishing. Unfortunately, the wind prevented me from getting out. We were able to fish from shore for an hour or 2. I have been taking my disabled friend fishing to get him out of the house, and he managed to catch 8 Crappie. He was very happy.

Took another friend fishing. We started at the lake where I had been catching all the crappie, but qe got nothing for an hour of casting. We reloacated to the nearby river where I managed to hook a trout that I lost, but I did manage to land a nice Dace, a small mouth Bass and punkinseed. We then returned to the crappie lake on the way home and my friend got a nice Crappie and I caught another punkinseed and a decent largemouth bass.

A couple I'm friends with went out for a fish today, Terry got fuck all but his Mrs smashed it. Her best was a 13 lb snapper. Lovely fish, didn't take any pics but she brought it to the pub to weigh it in for the fishing club, I think she will take this months prise.
It's given me the urge to get out there, I just struggle to find the time. The spot she caught it at is only 30 mins from here.

You must make time, you will never find it other wise. I keep a fishing pole and a little selection of gear in the car at all times. I stop to fish for 10 to 15 casts, every chance I get. Wife needs something from the store, I take 10 mins to fish, same if her car needs petrol, I stop at a small spot and try for 10 mins. When they are biting, it may take longer but the little breaks in life let me get some fishing time. You only live once and when your really old you wont look back on the days you worked but you will never forget the short break you took and that fish you caught., works the same with the bike, make time or it will not happen.

Yesterday was a big day, wife just returned from Philippines and it was my birthday. She wanted to go to the shops for an hour or 2 so I slipped into the local river. My first fish was a nice size (for the small river) Small mouth bass. Great fight and I managed to catch 5 more smaller bass before I headed home. Hope to get back out for an hour today.
