Come on…you can’t leave that hanging…how haunted?
Moved there with my parents at 15. The house was originally the Manor and had a huge medieval hall. This was later used by the Catholics during the persecution - although it was not built as a church. The bodies from the graves had already been exhumed but there were gravestones littered all over the place. My parents cleaned them all up and made a small 'garden of remembrance' area that the public could visit.

I lived in the attic which was a good size with its own kitchenette and bathroom. I used to run from the lounge to the bedroom at night as there was a great unease, I thought I was just scared of the dark but when I moved out at 19 into my own home, I realised that was not the case and there was an ill vibe with the place, especially the attic.

My mum saw a ghost at the bottom of her bed one night. (She did drink a lot so I dismissed at the time) & the dog got stuck up there and wouldn't come down and had to be sedated by the vet - amongst other things!

We later found out that the attic had been used to house children during the war and the Hartgills who were executed in Salisbury in 1557 had been kept in a dungeon below the cottage next door.

Other that that a pretty jolly old house it was!

I trust it was sold to your parents at a bargain price as a 'Dooer-upper'

Wow, spooky! Dogs don't put on an act do they.

My parents had a 16c house and there was a room that used to have a priests hidy hole in it, that none of us could be in there for more than about 10 minutes before you felt you were being watched - really unsettling. Had various other experiences there and in other houses, but don't know what to make of it all.

We had a German Shepherd that was facing a corner of a room and barking and snarling - I was about 14 and in the house on my own at the time.

Nor horses, there used to be an old abandoned convent in the woods in Stourhead (now converted to a posh house) my horse wouldn't go anywhere near

Healthcare, another scam to lighten the wallet
Yep - two years of care for my dad who had MND
13 years of personal in home care for my mum all from savings

I don't know what the answer is - probably a one way ticket to Switzerland

Anyway back to the dream (un haunted) homes

Check out this 5 bedroom detached house for sale on Rightmove This is still for sale but quite similar to the forementioned haunted house, maybe I have a 'type'

Nice, but no garage  (never mind the price :ROFLMAO:)

Google Myerscough House - Savills still have the listing on there from when it last sold. My folks bought it in the 70s when it had been empty for several years, and sold it late 80s. Some of the decoration is as it was when they sold it. The swimming pool was a later addition.
